Greeneville resident and former slave, Sam Johnson, created the 8th of August celebration that planted the seed for other communities to create their own celebrations - many of which live on today. At the historic Jones Memorial AME Zion Church, members of Greene County's Black community share their memories of past 8th of August celebrations, and their hopes for racial harmony & brotherhood.
