The Black communities of Cocke County, Tennessee, host 8th of August celebrations called “The Tennessee Picnic”. It was first organized after WWII as a way for people to enjoy a community-wide reunion. In this ETPBS Special, community members share how The Tennessee Picnic evolved into a celebration of arts, music, food, and other activities.
